Lady Louise makes poignant return to the Windsor Horse Show

Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor has been keeping up a very special family tradition as she participated in the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Lady Louise, 19, learned carriage driving from her grandfather, Prince Philip, and she was behind the reins again as the annual show continued.

Watched by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, she formed part of a team taking part in the Coaching Marathon at the show.

Carriages pulled by four horses go on a nine mile drive through Windsor Great Park before finishing in the main arena for the show.

It was a poignant return for Lady Louise who last year competed under the watchful eye of her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. In 2022, the show was part of the Platinum Jubilee with a spectacular ‘Gallop Through History’ bringing the event to an end and kickstarting the summer celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

The Duke of Edinburgh had already toured this year’s Windsor Horse Show, trying out a virtual reality riding experience during a visit on May 11th.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show runs every year on the Windsor estate. The event is due to conclude on May 14th.
