The Duchess of Cornwall has joined forces with the queen of British TV baking to find a pudding for the Jubilee.
Camilla and Dame Mary Berry have headed the judging panel to find a Platinum Pudding, a special sweet treat fit for The Queen.
The contest, run by Fortnum and Mason’s and the Big Lunch, launched at the search to mark the Jubilee and over 5,000 people entered. The finalists were invited to London to bake off against one another. It’s hoped the winning entry will be cooked around the country for street parties and celebrations during the long weekend of celebrations in June marking The Queen’s 70 year reign.
Organisers said the winning entry had to combine great tastes with a recipe easy enough for everyone to follow so that the pudding can become part of the Platinum party. And it had to be fit for The Queen.
The winner will be revealed in ‘The Jubilee Pudding: 70 years in the Baking’ which will be shown on BBC One. The recipe will be made available soon afterwards.
Ahead of the broadcast, the Duchess of Cornwall and Dame Mary Berry were photographed as they picked the Platinum pudding. The Platinum Pudding is revealed in the show on May 12th 2022.
