Born just over a week ago, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have formally registered their newborn son’s birth from the comfort of their own home.
This morning, Prince William signed the register at Kensington Palace with a Registrar from the City of Westminster Register Office as a witness.
Prince Louis’ parents are both listed with the occupations of ‘Prince of the United Kingdom’ and ‘Princess of the United Kingdom’, once again started the debate if Kate should be referred to as Duchess or Princess.

Princess will only fall before her name if she was born into the Royal Family, such as Princess Charlotte or Princess Eugenie. Kate only adopts the title of Princess because in the UK she takes on her husband’s title.
Prince Louis was born on 23 April after the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted into the hospital in the early morning. As in the past, the Duchess had a quick labour and Prince Louis was born at 11.01 at 8lbs 7oz.
By the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared on the steps of the Lindo Wing with their still unnamed son.
Her Majesty The Queen was the first to be notified of the birth. From there Kensington Palace tweeted out the news and an easel with all the birth details was placed outside of Buckingham Palace before the end of the day.
The Duchess has only had two visitors – her two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
They visited the hospital to meet their new baby brother for the first time. In total, they were at the hospital for less than half an hour before returning to Kensington Palace.
By the end of the week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had named their new little Prince- Louis Arthur Charles.
He will be known as Prince Louis of Cambridge.
The news was announced Friday morning in a press release from Kensington Palace which read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles.
“The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.”
Louis is known to be a favourite name of the Cambridge family. It is both George and William’s middle name. His middle name Charles, of course, comes from his paternal grandfather, The Prince of Wales.
