Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge took her second solo tour since marrying Prince William in 2011.
The Duchess made the short trip to Luxembourg, looking fashionable as always in a muted blue coat by Emilia Wickstead. She was on hand to help mark the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of London. The treaty is what sealed Luxembourg’s independence and created it as a neutral force in Europe.
Starting off her day, the Duchess was met by Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg and Prime Minister Xavier Bettel at the Mudam Musee D’Art Moderne. Princess Stephanie is Royal Patron of the museum and joined Catherine for a tour.
Catherine is also passionate about art with a degree in art history from St. Andrews and is Royal Patron of the National Portrait Gallery. The duo viewed the works of Tony Almond and Sit Tony Cragg, as well as unveiling urban art.

From the museum, the Duchess of Cambridge met with some children that were working on jerseys for the Tour de France. Luxembourg will play a part in the competition as the race passes through.
She was presented flowers by a young boy who was overcome by the experience, shying away from the Duchess.
Ending the day, Catherine visited the Grand Ducal Palace to meet with Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri; his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa; daughter-in-law, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie; son, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume; and daughter, Princess Alexandra.

The UK’s deputy ambassador to Luxembourg stated: “We have a good strong bilateral relationship and always have with the Luxembourgers, they still very much recognise the role we had in liberating them during the war and we have a very strong relationship between the two financial centres particularly, and that’s something we are very anxious to continue and maintain.
“There are also close ties between the two royal families, with three generations of the Luxembourg royal family having been educated at our military academy at Sandhurst.”
The Duchess of Cambridge’s first solo tour was to the Netherlands in 2016. She will visit Germany and Poland in July with her husband, Prince William.
