Meghan: “I didn’t make Kate cry – she made me cry”

Duchess of Cambridge, Duchess of Sussex

The Duchess of Sussex says that she did not make the Duchess of Cambridge cry and that in actual fact the “reverse is true”.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in the highly anticipated television interview, Meghan said that tabloid reports about Kate becoming upset at her behaviour was false.

Oprah asked Meghan directly: “Did you make Kate cry? “

Meghan said: “No – the reverse happened. She was upset about something. She owned it and bought me flowers.”

Meghan added: “Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true. I am not sharing that piece about Kate to be in any way disparaging about her. I would hope that she would want that to be corrected.”

The Duchess added that Catherine “is a good person.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s highly publicised interview with Oprah Winfrey was broadcast on Sunday evening for viewers in America.

Those in the UK will be able to watch the full interview, which has earned Oprah between $7-9m, on ITV at 8pm on Monday.

Oprah Winfrey is a close friend of the Duchess and was was among the guests at the May 2018 royal wedding.
