The Cambridges

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are unlikely to have more children as they increase workload

Royal watchers and fans may be disappointed to hear that the chances that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are unlikely to expand their family any further.

A source told The Express that now that the Duke of Edinburgh is retiring and the younger Royals will be taking on more duties, the chances that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have any more children are slim.

An aide explained that the Duchess has been modelling herself after Prince Philip in the way he supports The Queen with a source saying: “If you look at Kate’s approach you will notice that it is very much in support of William, first and foremost, but also about carving her own charitable path, as he has done with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and his long involvement with charities like the WWF.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge already have two children, Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 2, yet that could be it. The source said: “I would be very surprised if they have a third child. They have got a boy and a girl – there is a sense that their family is now complete and they are moving onto the next chapter in their lives.”

With the Cambridge family making their move to Kensington Palace from Anmer Hall as Prince William finishes his work with the East Anglia Air Ambulance, it could not come at a more perfect time as Prince Philip is retiring.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses are keen to continue to increase their official work on behalf of The Queen and for the charities and causes they support, which will require greater time spent in London.”

An aide told The Express: “It’s a sort of happy coincidence rather than something that has been done by design. The Duke of Edinburgh’s decision has been taken over recent months with the thinking having began in earnest at the turn of the year. With Prince George starting school in September and the Cambridges moving back to London, the timing feels right.”
