Prince Philip is taken to hospital

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to hospital.

Buckingham Palace said that Prince Philip, 99, was taken to King Edward VII Hospital in London on the advice of his doctors after he complained of feeling unwell. Royal officials say this is a precautionary measure.

The Duke was admitted on the evening of February 16th although his hospital stay wasn’t announced until the afternoon of February 17th.

No details of his condition have been shared. It is understood he travelled to the hospital by car and his admission was not considered an emergency.

It is understood that The Duke will stay at the hospital for several days at least.

Prince Philip was last in hospital just before Christmas 2019 when he was treated at Kind Edward VII for several days for what was described as a ”pre-existing condition”. He was discharged in time to join his family at Sandringham for the holidays.

This is a breaking news story. We will bring you more details as we get them.
