Duke of Edinburgh’s illness not Covid-related

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the Duke of Edinburgh’s hospitalisation is not related to COVID-19 after he was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital Tuesday night.

Philip, 99, was driven to hospital as a precautionary measure following the advice of a palace doctor after a short period of feeling unwell. He was taken by car and walked into the building unaided.

“The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest,” according to a palace spokesman, and is said to be “in good spirits.”

This is a breaking news story. We will bring you more details as we get them.
