Big Apple Baby Shower held for the Duchess of Sussex

An A-list crowd gathered at New York’s The Mark hotel Wednesday to celebrate the Duchess of Sussex’s impending motherhood in style.

Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Gayle King, and Abigail Spencer were among the famous faces joining the duchess for her baby shower. Other guests included Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney, Markus Anderson, director at Soho House, her trusted hairdresser Serge Normant, designer Misha Nonoo, fitness guru Taryn Toomey, and make-up artist Daniel Martin.

Williams is said to have hosted the shower, which took place in the hotel’s penthouse.

According to Tatler, the baby shower included “a flower arranging lesson accompanied by a dessert table prepared by the restaurant’s head chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who will be there to greet them.”

The scene outside the hotel was a bustling one, packed with photographers who chronicled deliveries including a cotton candy machine, hundreds of pink, blue, and yellow flowers, an orange tree, and 17 suitcases from Away luggage which are said to have been favours for the guests.

Harp player Erin Hill, who has performed with the likes of Kanye West and Josh Groban, was also seen arriving at The Mark, wheeling her instrument inside the hotel.

Martin shared a photo of baby-themed cookies on his Instagram, along with the caption “Such an incredible day celebrating #babylove.”

The shower marked the end of the duchess’s trip to New York City, during which Meghan spent time with friends at hot spots like The Surrey hotel, The Polo Bar, and the Met Breuer.

Meghan was seen departing The Mark yesterday evening for her flight back to London. Dressed casually in trainers, leggings, and a baseball cap advertising her friend Abigail Spencer’s TV show, Rectify, the duchess also was wearing a “Mommy” necklace by jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer.

The busy mum-to-be won’t have much time to rest before hopping another flight, as she joins her husband for a tour of Morocco this weekend.
