Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence has visited New Zealand, representing Her Majesty The Queen, less than a week after the deadly terrorist attack in Christchurch.
The Princess Royal’s husband signed the Book of Condolence at the New Zealand Parliament in Wellington yesterday. He is in New Zealand in his role as Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
The message inscribed by the Vice Admiral in the Wellington book is not known.
Meanwhile, back in the United Kingdom, Princess Anne paid her respects by signing the Book of Condolence at New Zealand House in London.

They are not the only royals who have signed the Books of Condolence. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited New Zealand House earlier in the week with the Duchess writing, “Our deepest condolences, we are with you.”
The Queen, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke and Duchess of Sussex have all released messages condemning the attack and sharing their deepest sympathies.
Other royals from various international royal families have expressed their sadness and utterly condemned the attack.
50 people have been killed and dozens more injured after an Australian-born, white-supremacist terrorist live-streamed his attack in two Christchurch mosques that took place on Friday, 15 March.
New Zealand is commemorating the day with different events today – exactly one week since the atrocity. A two minute moment of silence will take place today at 1.32pm at Hagley Park, located across the street from the Al Noor Mosque where 40 of the victims were gunned down. At 1:30, the Muslim call to prayer will be broadcast nationwide.
