Princess Anne returns to work as she conducts the first royal engagement of 2023

HRH The Princess Royal

The Princess Royal has returned to work after a Christmas and New Year break following her attendance at a farming conference in Oxford.

Princess Anne, who has long been considered by many to be the hardest working member of The Royal Family, attended the event as Honorary President of the conference.

This was the first royal engagement of 2023, with most members of The Royal Family enjoying some time off after a busy and emotional 2022.

The 72-year-old Princess conducted 463 engagements in 2022, the second highest number, coming only behind The King who carried out 507 royal duties.

However, the end of year statistics show that Princess Anne was the royal who worked the greatest number of days, spreading out her engagements.

According to the Daily Express, Anne carried out 185 days of work last year, compared to the 163 days by King Charles.

Measuring how hard a royal is deemed to work is, in reality, impossible to calculate. Simple stats and figures do not take into account the level of work needed to undertake the duty, or indeed travel and logistical concerns.
