A show of support for Ukraine at Changing the Guard

Traditional music from Ukraine has been played at Buckingham Palace during the Changing of the Guard as another sign of support for the country as it enters a second year of war.

Exactly twelve months on from the Russian invasion, the band of the Coldstream Guards played a Ukrainian military march, “Козацька Слава”, or ”Cossack Glory”.

Before that, soldiers joined the minute’s silence held across the UK on the first anniversary of the war.

King Charles III expressed his solidarity with Ukraine in a special statement in which he said ””I can only hope the outpouring of solidarity from across the globe may bring not only practical aid, but also strength from the knowledge that, together, we stand united.”

Earlier this week. His Majesty visited Ukrainian military training in the UK. The King watched a defensive training exercise during his visit on February 20th 20th 2023.

On the anniversary of the invasion and start of the war, February 24th, British soldiers joined their counterparts from Ukraine for a sunrise service, remembering all those who have lost their lives in the conflict.
