It has been brought to the Editorial Team’s attention that certain content has been spreading on Facebook claiming to be from Royal Central, when in fact it is not.
At this moment in time, it is our understanding that this issue is only affecting readers in Norway.
The problem was identified after a Norweigan journalist contacted Royal Central asking us why the following article was being promoted on Facebook:
The headline reads that Crown Prince Haakon has threatened Princess Matte-Marit with divorce alongside a photograph of a crying Princess, which was actually taken during a rose ceremony after the Utøya attack in 2011.
When clicked on, the article redirects to an article published on Royal Central in March focussing on Crown Princess Mette-Marit meeting female entrepreneurs.
Despite this, we have been inundated with comments questioning why Royal Central is promoting fake news. Of course Royal Central would never publish inaccurate news, and our technical and administrative team are trying to get to the bottom of the issue as a matter of urgency.
The Editorial Team does not take likely to publications of material which damage Royal Central’s reputation. If readers have any further evidence of suspicious activity claiming to be from our website, please email editor@royalcentral.co.uk with screenshots and links to any web pages.

Det har blitt brakt til redaksjonen oppmerksomhet at noe av innholdet har blitt vist på Facebook hevder å være fra Royal Central, når det faktisk har det ikke.
På dette tidspunkt, er det vår forståelse at dette problemet bare påvirker lesere i Norge.
Saken ble kjøpt til vår oppmerksomhet etter en Norweigan journalist kontaktet Royal Central spørre oss hvorfor du artikkel ble markedsført på Facebook:
Overskriften lyder som Kronprins Haakon har truet Princess Matte-Marit med skilsmisse sammen et bilde av en gråtende Princess, som faktisk ble tatt under en rose seremonien etter Utøya angrepet i 2011.
Når klikket på, omdirigeringer artikkelen til en artikkel publisert på Royal Central fokus på kronprinsesse Mette-Marit til å møte kvinnelige gründere.
Til tross for dette, har vi blitt oversvømt med kommentarer avhør hvorfor Royal Central er fremme falske nyheter.
Selvfølgelig Royal Central ville aldri publisere unøyaktig nyheter, og vår tekniske og administrative teamet prøver å komme til bunns i saken som en hastesak.

What’s the point of doing something like this?
To create fear and chaos maybe. Maybe anti-Monarchists? Sick people.
I could be someone with a grudge against the site or someone working on it. I could be someone trying to cause a problem for the Crown Prince couple or the monarch. Or it could be someone who just likes to destroy things.
I could be sitting on the couch staring at the wall with nothing to do and I would still not have time for this crap. I’m having a hard time believing in the goodness of people.

This is absolutely appalling. Many of us are watching the world go to hell in a handbasket on various levels – this kind of “fake” news etc, is just another way of either spreading this kind of misery and/or creating the misery for reasons best known to themselves. Personally I am tired of hearing about the “fake news….” that is being spewed out from people holding positions of High Authority (Presidents and the like) so that any “fact” is being questioned and then when challenged it is then called an “alternative fact”.
There is literally no trust anymore, the harm that is being done because people want to make mischief, have a laugh, or disclaim ownership of the lies/untruths they put out there, be it in tweets, facebook or whatever, just puts people off reading, listening or learning.
Quite frankly, people deserve better. Those poor families who lost loved ones (including a New Zealand teenager) do not need to have this heartbreak used and abused. To use the Crown Princess as a tool to inflict more hurt is indefensible.
Despair for the human race grows every day.
