The gold represents the country’s beaches and mineral wealth while the green is for the forests and eucalyptus which mark Australia’s natural environment.

The jewel, made of yellow and white diamonds, is shaped as a wattle flower, the national bloom of Australia. It was given to Queen Elizabeth II in 1954 when she became the first reigning Monarch to visit during her rule.
