Queen Camilla admits to nerves about a special Christmas tradition

Queen Camilla got in the Christmas spirit by dousing a pudding in so much brandy that she had to issue a warning.

The Queen told bystanders to ”hold on to your hair” as she poured the booze over the Christmas pud before it was set alight.

And she admitted beforehand that she was a ”bit nervous” about the task of lighting up a 22lb pudding.

The celebration came at a special ‘Festive Spread’ put on by the Royal Voluntary Service of which The Queen is patron.

The RVS is hosting 70 spreads around the UK, run by volunteers who will be making lunch and spending time with people who might otherwise be on their own at Christmas.

This Festive Spread was held in west London with pupils from the West London College helping to rustle it up.

Queen Camilla met the students as well as many of the volunteers helping out and the guests being entertained for a Christmas lunch.

The Queen later told them all ”Thank you all for all you do for the community. As I always say, this country would collapse without you. I am eternally grateful for everything you do.”

And no one lost a hair when the pudding was lit – after Queen Camilla had covered it in brandy, the Chief Executive of the RVS, Catherine Johnstone, set the flame to it, creating a festive glow.
