I watched these two young princesses steal the show at a major royal event and I’m impressed

Two of Europe’s heirs made waves when they stepped out together at the gala dinner in Luxembourg marking the accession of Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stephanie.

Princess Catharina Amalia, the Princess of Orange, and Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant, both attended the new Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg’s accession events on October 3.

Both princesses arrived for the abdication and accession with their parents, Elisabeth joining King Philippe and Queen Mathilde while Amalia joined King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. The two heirs quickly split from their parents to walk together.

It was at the Palace of Luxembourg gala that the two stole the spotlight, though. The Duchess of Brabant and Princess of Orange walked the red carpet together.

Princess Amalia stunned in a dramatic dark green off-the-shoulder ball gown from Monique Lhuillier. The sequined embroidery was matched perfectly by Queen Emma’s Tiara, a sparkling diamond diadem with three major diamond rosettes.

Princess Elisabeth channeled the Princess of Wales in a silver Jenny Packham gown. While Catherine wore a pink version of the Ernest gown in 2011, Elisabeth chose the silver version of the floor-length, fitted gown. She finished her look with the diamond festoon tiara she received for her 18th birthday.

Given that Europe’s heirs have relatively few peers, these royal besties make total sense- very few people will know what you are going through, and both are focusing on their university education.

And while both have very stylish mothers to look up to, both Elisabeth and Amalia have been busy over the last few years establishing their own sense of royal style. Here is hoping we see their friendship in the future!
