Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden held their daughter’s christening and gave a very important role to a future queen while they were at it. The couple’s little girl, Princess Ines, was baptised on 13 June in Stockholm, with her cousin, Princess Estelle, acting as a godmother for the first time. And Estelle couldn’t stop smiling about this special family event.
Princess Ines’ christening was a true family celebration and at its heart was Princess Estelle, who has just turned 13. The second in line to the throne stood proudly by her goddaughter as the christening took place but the bond between the cousins was on show throughout. As little Ines, now four months old, sat on her mum’s lap during the ceremony, Estelle kept catching her eye and sharing big smiles with her.

Queen Silvia, in particular, seemed to enjoy the strong bond on show between her eldest and youngest grandchildren.
The christening took place on a sunny day with bright colours and florals adding to the celebratory feel.Â
Princess Sofia chose a bright yellow midi-dress for the christening. The Lars Wallin outfit features a bow at the neck, tiered ruffles throughout the skirt, and ruffle details on the cuffs.Â
The mother-of-four accessorised with a padded yellow headband, a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps, and King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.

Princess Estelle, as she has done many times, went the wardrobe of her mother, Crown Princess Victoria, for her look. The second-in-line to the throne borrowed a blush pink skirt and top with a white floral designer from Swedish designer Ida Sjostedt. She finished the look with a pair of coordinating blush flats.Â
Crown Princess Victoria had a matching floral moment with her daughter. She turned to Italian brand Dolce and Gabbana for her pink floral midi-dress featuring a bold pattern. Her blue Bottega Veneta clutch highlighted the blue in the pattern. She wore King Carl Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch, as well.
Princess Madeleine went with a Safiyaa piece, a bright lavender midi dress, to match Princess Sofia’s intense colour. Her purple dress features a draped neckline and a peplum detail at the waist.
Meanwhile, proud grandmother, Queen Silvia, chose a green floral jacket and elegant white trousers for the christening. The Swedish queen, 81, has favoured trousers in the past month since undergoing foot surgery in April.
Princess Ines, meanwhile, kept with tradition and wore the Swedish royal christening robe. She was kept entertained throughout the morning by her three big brothers. Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julien, 4, were very attentive to their baby sister who was christened Ines Marie Lilian Silvia.
The little princess is eighth in line to the throne of Sweden.
