Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince William and Prince Harry were both told of The King’s cancer diagnosis before the public announcement was made.
All of His Majesty’s siblings were also informed ahead of the news being made public.
The Royal Family will continue to support King Charles III as he begins treatment for his illness. His Majesty will stop all public facing engagements while he is treated for cancer.
The news that His Majesty is being treated for cancer came on the evening of February 5th 2024.
Buckingham Palace said, in a statement, that ”During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
His Majesty has, today, commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
The King’s diary is arranged several months in advance and engagements may be passed to other members of the Royal Family or postponed until His Majesty has completed this round of treatment.
