The King and Queen of Norway won’t be seen in the exclusive photos taken by a magazine of the wedding of their only daughter.
Princess Martha Louise marries Durek Verrett on August 31st in Gerainger in Norway. Hello magazine and its sister publication, Hola, have sole rights to cover the wedding. The celebrations, which will last three days, will also be filmed for a documentary for Netflix.
The decision to grant exclusive press coverage of the marriage and festivities to a magazine has drawn criticism in some parts.
Now, the Norwegian Royal Court has confirmed that other members of the country’s royal family, including King Harald and Queen Sonja, won’t take part in exclusive photos for the magazine.
A spokesperson told NRK in Norway that the royal family won’t be part of the photos as they generally appear in images at big events like this that are available to all media.
They said ‘‘we are aware that exclusive rights have been granted to two media outlets for the coverage of the wedding of Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verett. The members of the royal family won’t be photographed or filmed by these two media, in cases where the press otherwise does not have access.”
Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett have already given a first, pre-wedding interview to Hello in which they’ve talked about the obstacles to their romance.
It’s not known whether some of their friends from other royal families will be in attendance at their wedding and whether they will be photographed or filmed if part of the celebrations.
