King Frederik returned to Paris this week after a short trip back to Denmark to resume his 2024 Olympic adventures and has been a good luck charm for some Danish athletes.
On day 7, the Danish King was at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena in Paris to cheer on Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in mixed doubles badminton. He was quite happy to be there, cheering on the Danish side loudly.
Unfortunately, the pair lost in the semi-final to Thailand.
Denmark has still prevailed in badminton, though. The Danish Royal Family has shared an image on Instagram of King Frederik congratulating Viktor Axelsen on his gold medal in men’s single badminton.
The 30 year old Dane defended his Gold Medal when he won against Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand.
The King sang Axelsen’s praises in an interview, saying”this is an amazing achievement for him, the second time in a row as Olympic champion…It’s unbelievable. The way he mastered the match, this is something that makes us proud in Denmark, on behalf of badminton in Denmark — but also the entire country.”
