What are the Cambridges up to in the coming months?

Since the confirmation that the Duke of Cambridge would be leaving the RAF to pursue various charitable causes and royal duties, many have wondered when we will begin to hear of new sets of engagements for the Duke and also for the Duchess of Cambridge.

Unfortunately, it looks like Prince William will be taking more time to pursue his own private charitable causes in the next year in addition to looking after Prince George. However, he will still be increasing his duties in the coming months – duties which could include performing investitures and other engagements on behalf of The Queen.

With rumours of a tour to Australia in 2014, the Cambridges are set to take on the royal circuit with full force once through the first months with Prince George.

There will be some confirmed and expected attendances in the coming months, however – these include:

  • On 18th October, the Duchess of Cambridge will attend a SportsAid Athlete Workshop at the Copper Box at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
  • Prince George of Cambridge will be christened in the Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace on 23rd October.
  • On 24th October, the Duchess of Cambridge will attend 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala Dinner in aid of Action on Addiction, Kensington Palace.
  • Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge being alongside members of the Royal Family for the service of remembrance at the Cenotaph on 10th November.
  • The Duke and Duchess are together expected to attend a medal service at Mons Barracks, Aldershot on 6th December – though this has not been confirmed.
  • William and Catherine should be in attendance along with Prince George at Sandringham for the Christmas with the Royal Family in late December.

Prince William, having recently left the RAF, is likely to wear the uniform of the Irish Guards (of which he is Colonel) to the Cenotaph next month (with forage cap and winter great coat instead of bearskin and red tunic). The Duchess will likely wear a black outfit of some description.

The next few months looks to be an interesting period for William and Kate watchers to see just what the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decide to do and where they go in terms of patronages, engagements and other royal duties and especially how Prince George will be introduced to the royal duties scene.
