The Best Of Both Worlds: How Prince Harry Perfected The Work-Life Balance

We are all familiar with many people’s ‘favourite’ Royal. Younger brother to Prince William, Prince Henry, or ‘Harry’ of Wales, has a place in many people’s heart due to a childhood thrust into the limelight.

He is regarded by many as a national treasure, and has been a main player in establishing a new generation of the Royal Family. His many responsibilities as a Royal have been balanced with a personal life often overshared and over publicised, but if one thing is certain, Prince Harry has certainly achieved a work-life balance that is admirable considering his role in society. From partying in Las Vegas to touring with the military, Prince Harry has managed to make a significant impact on the royal family and in British life.

Although the royal family as a whole have busy schedules, it’s Prince Harry who has captured the hearts of the British and international public. Recently married to Meghan Markle, and with a baby on the way, many of us can wonder how such a busy royal can manage to find time to relax let alone participate in some of his favourite hobbies. But it seems as if he does, with him and his wife being firm lovers of exercise and watching boxsets on Netflix.

The article below gives a glimpse into some of his achievements, with suggestions on how you can also achieve a work-life balance.

Royal Responsibilities

Harry’s previous engagements have shown him to be a responsible, diligent force for good within the Royal family, having served in the Armed Forces for ten years, before this came to an end in 2015. Training previously at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, this time included two tours of duty with the British Army in Afghanistan. During this time he was known as Captain Wales, and his first tour comprised of 77 days before an Australian newspaper publicised his whereabouts. He is also the first member of the Royal Family to reach the South Pole.

Invictus Games

The Invictus Games has been curated and led by Prince Harry since its inception in 2014, which saw the first games held in London. The premise of this international sporting event is to provide an opportunity for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women to compete, who are both serving and veteran. Harry has aimed to provide an opportunity to promote recovery and rehabilitation in a positive light, and to inspire those who are struggling through this process.

Furthermore, Prince Harry has worked alongside Prince William and Kate to eliminate the stigma around mental health. With Heads Together, their new campaign is a partnership with experienced charities in mental health. A spokesman for The Duke and Duchess for Cambridge and Prince Harry said:

“Through their work with young people, emergency response, homeless charities, and with veterans, Their Royal Highnesses have seen time and time again that unresolved mental health problems lie at the heart of some of our greatest social challenges.”

Social and Personal Life

Along with Royal and Military duties, Harry has often been thrust into the limelight regarding aspects of his personal life too. Most recently in May 2018, he married Meghan Markle, and the couple is now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Previously, aspects of his personal life were often overshared, and this included what some may refer to as his ‘party days’ during his young adult life where he, like the rest of us, would occasionally let his hair down. Whether it is supporting Arsenal football club or spending time in Vegas, Harry’s fun side showed to many that he is just like one of us, who needs time to relax and unwind from his Royal Duties.

Achieving a Work-Life Balance

A stressful life in the limelight with many responsibilities and stresses may seem a far stretch from those of us in everyday jobs, but the realities of trying to achieve a work-life balance are much the same. It’s important to fulfil any duties and responsibilities to the best of your ability, similarly to how the Duke of Sussex now manages his duties alongside starting his own family. Whether you need to take a few days off to spend time with loved ones, or unwind like Harry with a variety of real money poker games online, there are options for you to make sure you also achieve that much-desired work-life balance.

For anybody who needs that extra push in the right direction, Prince Harry’s story should inspire you to prove that anything is possible and can be achieved with hard work, and good time management. Make sure you balance work and play so that you don’t burn out.

You don’t have to compromise any aspect of your life; if Prince Harry can do it, so can you!
