
Boris Johnson is expected to call a snap general election on Wednesday after a number of Conservative MPs defied the party whip to vote against him in crucial Brexit votes.
The group of rebel MPs, which includes a former Chancellor and the Father of the House, have now lost the government whip meaning they will sit as independents.
The Queen is watching events closely from Balmoral as a new government looks likely to be formed.
