Thomas Kingston, the much loved husband of Lady Gabriella, whose royal wedding was a real Windsor celebration

Thomas Kingston, who has died at the age of 45, became a member of the extended Royal Family on his marriage to Lady Gabriella Windsor.

The only daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent married the financier in a glittering wedding at St. George’s Chapel in May 2019 with many of the Royal Family on hand to celebrate.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip both attended the wedding with Her Late Majesty looking particularly happy at the celebration which continued at a party at Frogmore House following the church ceremony.

Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston often attended major royal events, including the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

They were a happy couple whose delight in each other’s company was evident at every appearance and which was on show again in recent days when they supported Queen Camilla at an event celebrating William Shakespeare on Valentine’s night.

Thomas Kingston was the son of Martin and Jill Kingston and studied at Bristol University before beginning a successful career in finance.

He announced his engagement to Lady Gabriella after a proposal on the island of Sark. Their wedding took place on May 18th 2019.

Lady Gabriella is 56th in line to the throne.

Following the announcement of her husband’s death, Lady Gabriella joined his parent and siblings in issuing a statement in which they paid tribute to ‘’ an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him.’’

King Charles and Queen Camilla led tributes, saying they were ‘’ grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”
