Move over tiaras – this is the jewellery accessory royals are sparkling in now

With royals everywhere adapting their wardrobes to modern life and dressing more informally, royal watchers are seeing less of their tiaras and statement necklaces. However, we have seen royals turning to their spectacular earrings making them the new focus.

Queen Letizia of Spain wore one of her favourite pairs from Aldao Joyeros for Spain’s National Day on 12 October.

Paired with a striking red day dress from Poète, Letizia’s ruby earrings stole the spotlight. They feature a pear-shaped diamond, a pavé diamond drop, and a large oval cabochon-cut ruby suspended in a pavé diamond halo.

Queen Mathilde of Belgium turned to her earring collection for some sparkle on a State Visit to France this week, as France no longer hosts white tie State Dinners.

At the State Dinner on Monday evening, Mathilde debuted a new pair of Art Deco-style sapphire and diamond earrings to coordinate with her Dior gown. The earrings have a small sapphire set in a diamond of diamonds and a second sapphire set in a diamond fan shape drop.
