Prince George and Princess Charlotte have shown again that they are following in mum and dad’s footsteps with strong support for sport. The Prince and Princess of Wales have been regulars at many sporting events throughout the years and now their children are carrying on the tradition. It shows the importance this new generation of royals puts on all kinds of sport.
That was very clear at the weekend when Princess Charlotte joined her mum for the men’s singles finals match at Wimbledon while just hours later Prince George was with his dad at the Euros in Berlin.

Later, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photo of Charlotte watching the football at home with younger brother, Prince Louis. Like many children around England, they were in their own team shirts with their names and ages on the back. It’s another way that the Wales family is showing support, not just for sport but for the importance it has in many people’s lives.
George appeared to have a fresh haircut as he joined his dad in coordinating navy suits and blue, white, and red striped ties at Olympiastadion in Berlin. While it was business as usual, their ties in the colours of the Union Jack show they were there to support England through the very end.

While the two were visibly focused on the match against Spain. they did find time to chat with the newly-elected British Prime Minister, Keir Stammer, and King Felipe of Spain. Following Spain’s win, William was quick to take to X to offer his condolences to England, posting: “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. W”
Over at Wimbledon, Charlotte was all smiles as she watched her mum met with tremendous applause and a standing ovation as they took to their seats for the men’s finals. The Wimbledon outing markets just the second appearance Catherine has made this year after undergoing major abdominal surgery and treatment for cancer.

The Wales family as a whole was last seen last month at Trooping the Colour, the Monarch’s official birthday parade.
The Princess of Wales was at Wimbledon as its patron and presented the trophy at the end of the final. And she was joined by her daughter in meeting many of the tennis stars there including men’s champion, Carlos Alcaraz, and the runner-up, Novak Djokovic.

Princess Charlotte also met wheelchair tennis player Lucy Shuker. She gave the player a ‘pinky promise’ that she would try the sport alongside her mother.
The sporting appearances of this new generation of royals is a gentle way to introduce them to engagements and public appearances but also shows the importance placed on big national events by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
