King Charles will be opening the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh for the holiday season with new additions for Christmas visitors.
The Palace of Holyroodhouse will officially be open for the holiday season from 28 November 2024 to 6 January 2025. The Royal Collection Trust has planned several different displays in the sovereign’s official home in Scotland for the holidays.
The Throne Room will have two separate twelve-foot trees decorated for the season, as well as a mantle garland. The Great Gallery will also have its own festive tree, a fifteen-foot Nordmann Fir.
There will be decorations throughout the State Apartments for visitors to enjoy, including garlands, wreaths, and greenery, as well as historic table settings.
The RCT has planned several special events at Holyrood this year.
On Friday, 6 December, guests will be able to visit the palace in the evening for a more accessible and relaxing tour to make it more enjoyable for those with additional needs. There will also be a descriptive tour on Saturday, 14 December for those with audiovisual impairments.
On Sunday, 8 December and Monday, 9 December, guests will be able to enjoy festive performances by the Robin Chapel Choir with wine and mince pies.
If anyone is interested in making their own royal decorations, Royal Warrant-holder and florist Lottie Longham will be leading a wreath-making workshop on Thursday, 12 December.
