Final rehearsals for the military for lying in state procession of Queen Elizabeth II

As London slept, the military took to the streets of London for final rehearsals for the processions which will bring Queen Elizabeth II home to her capital.

In the early hours of the morning of September 13th 2022, the Army, Navy and RAF went through last practices for the ceremonials which will see them accompany the coffin of Her Late Majesty on its way to Westminster Hall for Lying-in-State.

Under the cover of darkness, soldiers, sailors and air personnel received final briefings before marching through the streets of the capital in preparation for the processions which will be watched by hundreds of thousands packed into the streets of London.

Musicians went through final rehearsals while troops practised every part of the ceremonial which will accompany the final journey of Queen Elizabeth II from Buckingham Palace.

The coffin of Her Late Majesty will arrive in London on the evening of September 13th 2022. It will be flown from Edinburgh to Northolt. The Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, will accompany it. The coffin will then be driven to Buckingham Palace where it will be received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The Prince and Princess of Wales will also be present.

On the afternoon of September 14th 2022, Queen Elizabeth II will leave Buckingham Palace for the final time. Her coffin will go in procession to Westminster Hall where it will lie in state until the early hours of September 19th 2022, the day of her State Funeral which will take place at Westminster Abbey.
