The royal visits to each of Sweden’s counties is set to resume after it had to be put on hold last year due to the global health emergency.
The visits were the initiative of King Carl XVI Gustaf, who wanted to show the Royal Family’s support for each county in the aftermath of the pandemic. The short tours began in the autumn of 2020, but a resurgence in COVID infections led to it being put on hold after only four counties received royal visitors.
The trips to Sweden’s counties will resume in August, with the King and Queen Silvia travelling to Kalmar County. The tours will continue through November with the King and Queen, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel and Prince Carl Philip taking part.
With this initiative, the King wants “to show participation with the affected and draw attention to local initiatives in various sectors of society,” the Royal Court said.
All visits will be in line with COVID guidelines.
