Queen Silvia of Sweden forced to withdraw from State Visit

Queen Silvia of Sweden has decided not to make a State Visit to Singapore after becoming ill.

Queen Silvia, 80, has been forced to withdraw after developing a respiratory infection.

King Carl XVI Gustaf will travel to Singapore for the three day visit which gets under way on November 19th 2024.

In a brief announcement. Sweden’s royal court said that Queen Silvia would no longer take part and expressed her regret about not being able to travel to Singapore. However, it was felt that ”out of consideration” for her hosts and the rest of the delegation, she would remain in Sweden to avoid the risk of infecting others.

King Carl Gustaf will be accompanied by Swedish ministers during the visit which aims to promote co-operation and strong ties between the two countries.
