Princess Madeleine finishes children’s book

It was announced last year that Princess Madeleine was authoring a children’s book. The Princess made the announcement in February 2017 in an interview with Sweden’s Expressen, but she stopped short of divulging any specific details about the book.

Chief Information of the Court, Margareta Thorgen confirmed to Expressen this week that the Princess had finally completed her manuscript, and more information will be released in early 2019. It is believed that it will be published in both English and Swedish.

“It has been written, but later on we will give information about it. I do not want to give information on the event in advance, but she has been working on the book for a long time, and we will release information about the launch at the beginning of next year,” she said.

Madeleine became a mother of three in March of this year when her third child, Princess Adrienne was born in Stockholm. Juggling her pregnancy while raising her two oldest children – Princess Leonore, 4 and Prince Nicolas, 3 – and later adding a newborn into the mix delayed the children’s book’s completion.

The Princess, who relocated to Miami, Florida, USA this summer with her family, has not had many royal events since Adrienne’s birth. (She was notably absent from this year’s Nobel Prize ceremony and banquet yesterday in Stockholm). Her Royal Highness has been involved with Childhood USA once again since returning to the United States; she previously worked for the organisation her mother founded in its New York headquarters from 2010 to 2015.

Thorgen also told the Swedish newspaper, “She takes care of her children because they are still so small. Princess Adrienne is not even a year, so obviously there is a lot of focus on them, but besides that, the Princess works with different projects. Among other things, with her book project, as she has previously said to Expressen.”

Although energetic Princess Leonore isn’t all that into reading, Madeleine has said in the past that Nicolas loves books and can be found “crawled up in an armchair and is sitting with a little book himself.”
