Last week, it was reported that Princess Madeleine was to be at her father’s side during his heart operation. However, the Swedish media now reports that the plans changed, and that the Princess never travelled to Sweden.
King Carl XVI Gustaf’s youngest child remained in the United States with the rest of her family, with no plans to travel home to Sweden to visit her father in the near future. Madeleine’s daughter Princess Leonor turned nine-years-old on the same day that the operation took place, with her parents staying with the young princess in Florida.
Swedish media reports that Princess Madeleine has spoken on the phone with her mother Queen Silvia, to hear the latest about the king and his well-being. Princess Madeleine is said to have a close relationship with her mother who keeps her updated on all the latest news from across the Atlantic.
Princess Madeleine has lived in the USA for several years with her husband, Chris O’Neill, and their three children. They have lived in several different places, including New York City and Florida. Although they do not reside in Sweden, Princess Madeleine and her family remain active members of the Swedish Royal Family and attend royal events when they have the opportunity to travel back to the Scandinavian country.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel recently returned to the country following a trip to Oceania. News of the king’s surgery broke in the middle of their visit to Australia. The King will spend a few weeks recovering from the procedure, with all engagements from February 20th to March 3rd cancelled.
