Prince Carl Philip and family celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent and St Lucia’s Day

Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel of Sweden marked the Third Sunday of Advent and St Lucia’s Day on Sunday with a family video released by the Royal Court.

The video was filmed at the family’s home at the Royal Djurgården in Stockholm and stockings can be seen hanging by the fireplace for Princes Alexander and Gabriel, as well as the family’s dog, Siri.

Gabriel and Alexander help their father light the Advent candles in the video, and Gabriel gets a little distracted as his older brother lights a candle, so Princess Sofia is heard asking Gabriel to come back as they are filming the video. He ends up standing in front of the camera to look at the candle that Alexander just lit.

Gabriel then helps Carl Philip light the third candle which represents the joy that the birth of Christ brought to the world.

The Prince Family has followed in the footsteps of Crown Princess Victoria’s family (who released a video for the First Sunday of Advent) and Princess Madeleine’s family (who released a photo for the Second Sunday of Advent).

Carl Philip and Sofia later wrote on their Instagram: “Happy Third Sunday of Advent and Happy St Lucia from us! We also want to express our warmest thanks for all the nice congratulations to our growing family.”

The family of four will soon be a family of five as Princess Sofia is expecting her and Prince Carl Philip’s third child. The new royal baby is due at the end of March/beginning of April. The Royal Court announced that a new baby was on the way last week for the Prince Couple. The new prince or princess will be the eighth grandchild for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and will be seventh in the line of succession from birth.
