In addition to messages from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, King Harald of Norway and King Charles III of the United Kingdom, the royal houses of the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain have now released public messages to the new Danish king and queen, and to out-going Queen Margrethe.

From the Netherlands, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix shared that they honour Queen Margrethe “with warmth and affection” for her “outstanding commitment to Denmark.”

They add: “We look forward to meeting King Frederik X and Queen Mary in their new roles and continue to cherish the close friendship between the Netherlands and Denmark.”

The Belgian Royal Court shared a message from King Philippe and Queen Mathilde praising Queen Margrethe’s “way of exercising the royal function and her dedication will remain an example to us all.”

About King Frederik and Queen Mary, they wrote: “They wish King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark all the best in their new roles. May this new era for the Danish nation be filled with happiness and prosperity.”

King Felipe shared a message, writing personally to King Frederik: “Our congratulations on the beginning of your Reign, with the greatest personal affection and best wishes for the people of Denmark.”
