This week, Prince Philip of Serbia continued his official journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina alongside his wife, Princess Danica and their son, Prince Stefan.
On 10 February, the Serbian royal had meetings at the high political level and with the presidential and the political leadership of Republika Srpska – one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina where most ethnic Serbs live.
Prince Philip said in a statement about the meetings: “Constructive conversation with the Serbian member of the Presidency today in East Sarajevo. For the second year in a row, we spent our winter vacation on Jahorina and visited East Sarajevo. Serious work and extraordinary work in this area are noticeable, and we congratulated Mr Dodik on that. Jahorina has become a serious and modern winter tourist centre that we are happy to come to, just as we spend part of our vacation in Trebinje every summer. We are happy that Republika Srpska is investing intensively and working on the development of its tourist centres, which are a source of pride for all of us.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed that restoration work on the devastated summer house of the Serbian Royal Family, built by the Prince’s great-grandfather King Alexander of Yugoslavia in the early 1920s, will begin in early May this year.
His Royal Highness touched on this in his remarks: “We are looking forward to the soon renovation of the residence of King Alexander in Han Pijesak, and we are grateful to the leadership of the Republic of Srpska for recognising the importance of the reconstruction of this facility. We thanked Mr Dodik for everything he does in the field of nurturing history and tradition in this area. We will be happy to try to work more intensively on the promotion and affirmation of the potential of the Republika Srpska because we are convinced that the citizens of the Republika Srpska deserve it, as well as its leadership, which has a domestic relationship with its country. Long live Serbia.”
Prince Philip is the son of Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia and Princess Maria da Gloria of Orleans-Braganca, the Duchess of Segorbe.
