European Royals

New generation of royals centre stage at Paris Olympics

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris has turned into a gathering spot for young royals and they have brought their energy to the games, making the role of royal spectator much cooler.

Many royal families across Europe now have teenagers and young adults who are able to head out on their own and follow their own Olympic schedule. And they have absolutely been having a blast doing it.

Princess Catharina-Amalia and Princess Alexia of the Netherlands were in Paris over the first weekend of the Olympics and had a busy schedule. To start their Olympic adventures, they watched swimming and volleyball on Saturday. On Sunday they were with their parents and watched both the mountain bike cross finals and dressage events. And of course, they chose appropriately orange casual ensembles to represent their country.

The Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg also brought their youngsters, including ten year old Princess Amalia and seven year old Prince Liam, the two older children of Prince Felix. Princess Alexandra also brought her baby, two month old Princess Victoire.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia of Spain have kept a jam-packed schedule for their Olympics and have been taking in as many different sports as possible. Both looked thrilled to be at the Games and are enjoying every minute of their experience. They are representing their family well and have been a true good luck for Spanish athletes.

Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel, and Princess Eleonore of Belgium will be enjoying Paris during the second week of the games.

The Olympics will end with the traditional message from the President of the International Olympic Committee who will ”call upon the youth of the world to assemble, four years from now, in Los Angeles”. And it seems that when those games arrive, it will be the younger generation of royals who will be there to lead the cheers.
