Princess Amalia of the Netherlands is currently on her first royal tour and has taken to her new responsibilities with ease.

The 19-year-old Princess of Orange is accompanying her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, on a ten-day tour of the Dutch Caribbean. The tour started on Saturday, and the Princess has had a very busy three days to start.

The Dutch Royal Family explained on their Instagram,

“The visit is all about the introduction of the Princess of Orange to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. They visit Bonaire, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba in succession. During the trip, culture, nature, colonial past, defence efforts, sports and encounters with residents are centred.

The tour started on the island of Bonaire, with the three royals meeting with Lieutenant Governor Edison Rijna and dancing with local performers at Cultural Park Mangazina di Rei. Bonaire’s darker history was not hidden, though, with Amalia, Willem-Alexander, and Máxima visiting an art installation representing the huts that slaves were forced to live in when working in the salt pans.

After spending Saturday and Sunday in Bonaire, the Dutch royals then headed to Aruba. Upon their arrival, the King inspected the guard of honour. They shook hands and chatted with locals on a walkabout as they made their way to the Parliament. Once they had arrived, they had lunch with the Prime Minister and other members of the cabinet.

The Princess and her parents then spent the afternoon in San Nicolas, where they visited the Aruba Art Fair and met with local artists. The trio was also treated to street performances by dancers and other performers.

Given how busy of a schedule they are maintaining, the Princess of Orange is doing a fantastic job on her first tour. She is taking an active role in engagements; she is taking part and getting to know the people that she is meeting.

At only 19, Princess Amalia looks to have a bright future ahead of her in the Dutch Royal Family.
