Margrethe at 80: The Jubilee Moments

Queen Margrethe has celebrated a few milestones on the Danish throne. A Silver Jubilee in 1997; a Ruby Jubilee in 2012. If she is still on the throne in 2022, she will mark her Golden Jubilee. And having ascended to the throne at the age of 32, Queen Margrethe has marked a few major birthdays on the throne.

On Queen Margrethe’s 40th birthday in April 1980, the Danish Royal House released four official portraits.

In 2012, Queen Margrethe marked her Ruby Jubilee: 40 years on the Danish throne. The first of the festivities included a reception at Copenhagen City Hall.

The royal families of Europe were invited to the celebrations, which included a gala dinner.

Unfortunately for Queen Margrethe, what was supposed to be massive celebrations for her 80th birthday this year have been cancelled in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
