Denmark’s spare to the throne makes headlines after wearing T-shirt emblazoned with swear word

Princess Isabella of Denmark meets wellwishers as she arrives at Grasten Palace for her summer holiday

Princess Isabella of Denmark has made headlines after wearing a T-shirt printed with a swear word to a public music festival.

Isabella, who turned 18 earlier this year, chose the top for a day out at Smukfest where she was seen partying alongside her older brother, Crown Prince Christian.

And while media got very excited when Christian appeared to be there with a girlfriend, Isabella grabbed the main headlines with her choice of T-shirt.

The princess, who is second in line to the throne, was listening to Suspekt who had a hit called ”f***** her yesterday”. Isabella wore a T-shirt that read ‘f***** him yesterday” with the band’s branding underneath. And that’s where the debate began.

The interest in the top is so strong, it even ended up being featured on one of Denmark’s national news programmes.

Some think Isabella, elder daughter of King Frederik and Queen Mary, is doing what plenty of teenagers do. Other say that, being so close to the throne, it’s inappropriate.

When TV2 asked other concert goers, they were very relaxed and said that she’s free to do as she wishes especially as she is on a private day out. Some commentators have said it’s not correct for a princess to associate with such a strongly worded statement.

Isabella’s other fashion choice, an orange bucket hat, proved less controversial.

Her older brother, Crown Prince Christian, is also in the spotlight after he went to Smukfest with a friend called Emma who is now rumoured to be his girlfriend.

Danish media has been quick to point out that Emma was at the private party held by Denmark’s royals for the 18th birthday celebrations of Princess Isabella in April this year.

The Danish royal palace hasn’t commented.

However, it’s a stark reminder for both Christian, 19, and Isabella, 18, that interest in their private lives will only ramp up as they now enter adulthood.
