Royals from across Europe spent much of their late July and early August in Paris to take in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Now, royals are getting ready for another celebration of sport with the 2024 Summer Paralympics and the Danish Royal Family is the first to share their plans.
Crown Prince Christian will be in Paris on Monday, 2 September to meet Danish Paralympians and to cheer them on. Princess Benedikte, Queen Margrethe’s younger sister, will be at the Paralympic Games from Wednesday, 4 September until Saturday, 7 September.
Denmark is sending 32 athletes to the 2024 Summer Paralympics and will be represented in: athletics, badminton, cycling, equestrian, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and wheelchair rugby.
Crown Prince Christian attended the Men’s Handball Final at the Paris Olympics with his father, King Frederik, where Denmark took their third Gold Medal in the sport on Sunday, 11 August.
Princess Benedikte also was in Paris for the Olympics when she was there for part of Week 2. In addition to watching several competitions, she also attended a reception at the Danish House on the Champs-Élysées Avenue where she met with many Danish athletes.
As the younger sister of Queen Margrethe, Princess Benedikte carries out engagements on behalf of the Danish Crown. She is tenth in line for the throne.
