Queen Mary makes sartorial statement on first day of State Visit

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark were in Copenhagen on Tuesday to welcome the Icelandic President and her husband for the first incoming state visit of their reign. Queen Mary chose her ensemble from King Charles’ May 2023 coronation for the historic event on Tuesday.

Queen Mary wore a vibrant purple Soeren Le Schmidt custom-made coat dress and a coordinating purple, sequined clutch. She also wore a light grey scarf and grey suede pumps.

She also accessorised with a new headband, a Jane Taylor Pleated Band in Purple. The headband appears to be a firm royal favourite, as the-then Duchess of Cambridge wore a blue version to church in January 2019.

The Danish Queen also made a sartorial statement for the State Dinner on Tuesday evening.

She chose to pair two separates from Danish designer Jesper Høvring, an asymmetrical navy top and satin tiered floor-length skirt.

Her Majesty wore the Pearl Poire Tiara, a tiara that was first created in 1825 and has been in the Danish Royal Family since 1871. The diamond tiara has nineteen arches, and each arch has a large, suspended pearl. Notably, this tiara has only been worn by Queens of Denmark since it was brought into the family.
