King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have marked the end of the summer for the Danish Royal Family when they formally disembarked from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
The Danish Royal House shared photos of the King and Queen of Denmark disembarking at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen. The marina has two royal pavilions that the Danish Royal Family uses to board their yacht.
The royal couple had a busy summer sailing, with visits to Bornholm, Afro, Assens, and Vejle, as well as trips to Greenland, Sweden, and Norway.
King Frederik and Queen Mary looked happy to be out in the sun. King Frederik donned his military uniform for the day, while Queen Mary chose to wear a stylish navy trouser suit that she complimented with a sage green clutch. She also accessorised her look with a scarf tied around her hair.
The couple later hosted a special dinner at the Amalienborg Palace to mark the end of the season where they welcomed the ship’s crew. Queen Margrethe joined them as the Danish royal family said farewell to the ship’s captain, Peter Schinkel Stamp, who is retiring after five years’ service.
The Royal Yacht Dannebrog serves as the official residence of the Danish monarch when they are sailing. The ship was built from 1931 to 1932 and was officially launched on 26 May 1932.
The yacht also serves an important role for the remainder of the year. The Royal Danish Navy uses the ship for training exercises with over 3,400 members trained and over 800,000 nautical miles sailed.
