Flowers for Queen Mary as she misses another engagement through illness

Queen Mary has had to pull out of a second engagement through illness but she is being showered with flowers to help her recover.

The Queen of Denmark had to cancel her attendance at an event for her Mary Foundation set to take place on March 14 because she wasn’t well. It came two days after Queen Mary missed an awards ceremony for Denmark’s Heart Foundation.

No details of the illness have been given although Queen Mary said she hopes to be out and about again very soon.

She revealed her plans in a post on the Danish royal family’s official social media where she also said thank you for a pretty bunch of flowers sent to her by the Heart Foundation to wish her better.

In a personal note, Queen Mary said ”thank you for your thoughtfulness…I had been looking forward to presenting the awards along with two children (from the Foundation), Alma and Ellen and to meeting some of the young people who are living with heart issues. Hopefully, we can meet another time.”

There were also photos of a drawing made by Ellen which showed a rainbow and flowers as well as a posy of blooms sent as a get well gift.

Queen Mary added, in her message, that ”as a patron of the Heart Association, I would like to congratulate the health staff at Denmark’s three largest children’s heart facilities on receiving the Heart Award 2025 – thank you and to all those who make a difference in the field of the heart every day.”

Just before falling ill, Queen Mary had been seen visiting her eldest child, Crown Prince Christian, at the barracks where he is carrying out his military training.
