Prince Christian of Denmark has joined his parents, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, in praising his country’s football team after they went out of Euro 2020 in a tense semi-final against England at Wembley.

Within minutes of the match ending, the royal trio took to social media to speak of their pride in the Danish side who ended up losing 2-1 after extra time.

The family had travelled from Copenhagen to London to cheer on Denmark on July 7th 2021. Ahead of the game, they posted a photo of themselves at Wembley with a message for the England fans and their anthem of ”It’s Coming Home”. The royals said ”Just arrived at Wembley! Unity has brought us here – and let us show them that we are not going home, but we must move! Come on, Denmark!”

The Danish royals watched the match from the VIP area at Wembley with the Duke of Cambridge nearby. They also chatted to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife, Carrie, as the evening unfolded.

Denmark came close to winning, taking the lead in the first half before England equalised just before half time. The match finished 1-1 and went to extra time where the Danes conceded a penalty. England captain Harry Kane saw his spot kick saved by Kasper Schmeichel but netted it on the rebound. The 2-1 win sees England into their first major men’s international final for over half a century.
