Danish monarchy launches new website

The Danish Royal House has launched a new website.

The new website, which is available at the same URL address as before, offers an updated, more modern and more user-friendly design. It contains information on the Royal Family’s engagements and activities and will continue to share this information through text, photos and videos.

The website provides the opportunity to get both a quick overview and historical immersion, as well as learn about significant events in the Royal House.

For example, the website will publish guest lists and menus first. In addition, all official programme items can be accessed in the Royal House’s calendar, which can be found on the front page of the website.

The Danish Royal Family created its first official website back in the late 1990s. Since then, the website has been changed four times. The most recent alteration came in 2016. Additionally, the Royal House has social media profiles on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

The new website offers a number of new initiatives. It contains a media bank for the press, including information about interviews, media productions, photos and video recordings. The latest press section allows the media to download images, many of which are new, in a more user-friendly way.

Also new to the website is a digital image database from the Royal Collections. The new digital database “The Royal Photography Collection” so far provides access to approximately 10.000 photos from Queen Margrethe’s library.

The images include photographs that have been purchased or given to members of the Royal Family throughout the years. Private photographs and photo albums, where it is often the Royal Family themselves who have taken the images, are also included.

In addition, the “Royal Collection of Photographs” includes images of castle interiors and furniture, landscapes, cityscapes, horses, uniforms, exhibitions and more.

The last new feature of the webpage is a new subpage about Queen Margrethe’s artistic work. There it is possible to dive into the Queen’s various creative areas and, among other things, explore Her Majesty’s visual art, embroidery, church textiles and scenography and costume designs.
