Crown Prince Christian welcomed a few ‘old friends’ to Amalienborg on Tuesday as he reunited with three guests from his 18th birthday celebrations in October 2023.
The future king of Denmark was presented with a special book, Takkebogen (in English: Book of Thanks), compiled by the guests at his 18th birthday celebrations and filled with memories and reflections and letters of the evening.

Then still second-in-line to the Danish throne, Crown Prince Christian received an unforgettable birthday party hosted by his grandmother, Queen Margrethe, at Christiansborg Castle. Among the guests were teenagers the same age as the future king who won a lottery across the Danish realms—including the Faroe Islands and Greenland—to attend the party.
At the time, the future king gave a speech and thanked his guests, saying, “It feels really good to be surrounded by so many peers. We’re not the same, but we’re in the same place in life. We have something in common. And tonight is new for all of us. That makes it a little easier. And I need that right now.”
Crown Prince Christian welcomed three attendees, Viktor Reinholdt Petersen who lives in Hillerød; Viktor Hernvig Ankersen, who lives in Faxe; and Lucia Julie Lindbæk Roslund, who lives in Hillerøds for a presentation of the Takkebogen, where they enjoyed sparkling tea and wreath cake.
The future king recently completed his basic military training with the Hussar Guards and will, in August, begin lieutenancy training. “I’m really looking forward to that,” Crown Prince Christian said.
The Danish Royal Court released a video of a gruelling four-day trek through the forests of Denmark that completes the basic training of the Hussar Guards.
