Sparkle in Belgium as King Philippe and Queen Mathilde welcome Oman’s Sultan on State Visit

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians welcomed Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman on a State Visit. The Belgian queen brought needed glamour with several sentimental jewels for the State Banquet.

Queen Mathilde wore a burgundy coat and dress with a coordinating hat and pumps to welcome the Sultan. She also chose her Lady Dior handbag in bordeaux, a bag that she first carried during the Belgian State Visit to France in October 2024.

For the State Banquet at the Royal Chateau at Laeken, Mathilde chose an elegant navy evening gown with a sequined cape. She wore the Insignia of the Order of Oman.

For jewels, the Belgian queen wore pieces that represent both her and her mother-in-law, Queen Fabiola.

She wore the Wolfers Necklace Tiara, a slender diamond piece that Fabiola received from a group of Belgian diamond brokers and jewellers for her wedding to King Baudouin in 1960. The tiara, designed by Belgian jewellery firm Wolfers, has over 200 diamonds and can be worn either as a tiara or a necklace.

Queen Mathilde also wore her diamond fringe earrings, a pair of Art Deco earrings that she often reaches for. These earrings feature a semi-circle of diamonds with interspersed bands and five diamond fringes.
