Prince Amedeo of Belgium and wife, Princess Elisabetta welcome second child, a son

Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este – nephew of King Philippe of Belgium – and his wife, Princess Elisabetta have welcomed their second child, a son.

The baby boy was born on 6 September at 9:05 pm in the UMC Saint-Pierre Hospital in Brussels. He weighs 3.3 kg and measures 50 cm. The Royal Palace said, “Both mother and child are doing well. Their families share their great joy.”

The child, whose name has not yet been revealed, is eighth in line to the Belgian throne.

This is Amedeo and Elisabetta, who married in 2014, second child. Their first child, a daughter named Anna Astrid, was born on 17 May 2016. She holds the title of Archduchess, and it is expected that her brother will hold the title Archduke. These titles come from their paternal grandfather, Prince Lorenz, Archduke of Austria-Este who is the head of the House of Austria-Este.

Prince Amedeo and his family reside in Switzerland.
