Prince Amedeo of Belgium and his wife, Princess Elisabetta are expecting their second child. The son of Princess Astrid of Belgium and his wife will be adding another baby to their family this summer/autumn.
Rumours had been swirling for a while, but Royal Central can now confirm that the happy news is true. Prince Amedeo of Belgium and his wife, Princess Elisabetta “Lili” are preparing to welcome their second child. The Archduchess of Austria-Este and the son of Princess Astrid of Belgium’s baby is expected to be born in September.
The couple lives a private life away from the press in Basel, Switzerland, where Prince Amedeo works for his father’s exclusive private bank Gutzwiller & Cie. Prince Amedeo’s father, Prince Lorenz is one of the four owners of the bank.
The Belgian Royal Court does not wish to comment on the news as they consider this a private matter. King Philippe’s nephew, Amedeo and his wife, Lili do not undertake official engagements for the Belgian Royal Family and stay away from most public events.
The last time the couple was seen in presence of the Belgian Royal Family was at the Mass held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of King Baudouin’s death. Prince Amedeo is also the godfather of Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant – the eldest child of the King and Queen of the Belgians.
The couple already has one child, a daughter named Anna Astrid. Their daughter, who was named after both her grandmothers, was born on 17 May 2016 in Brussels.
Their second child will also be the second grandchild for Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz of Belgium and the second great-grandchild of King Albert and Queen Paola of Belgium.
Prince Amedeo and Elisabetta “Lili” Rosboch von Wolkenstein met each other in London where Amedeo studied at the London School of Economics. In 2009, the couple moved to New York where they both started working. After their marriage, they first moved to Brussels, Belgium before delocating to Basel. On 5 July 2014, Amedeo and Lili married in a religious ceremony at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, Rome – the bride’s hometown.
