A new royal baby on the way and they’re set to arrive at an historic time for their dynasty

There’s a brand new royal baby on the way and they will make their debut at a real moment of history for their dynasty.

Luxembourg’s Princess Alexandra is expecting her second child with her husband, Nicolas Bagory. Their baby is due in the autumn which is when Alexandra’s father, Grand Duke Henri, is set to abdicate in favour of her brother, Prince Guillaume.

Alexandra’s new child could well be the final addition to her royal family of her father’s reign or the first member to be born under the rule of her brother.

Grand Duke Henri is set to abdicate on October 3rd 2025 with his eldest child, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, taking over instantly.

As they announced the happy news, Luxembourg’s royals said ”the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess have the great joy of announcing that Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory are expecting their second child. The baby is due in the autumn.”

With no set due date, all eyes will now be on the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg to see if Alexandra is able to attend the solemn ceremony that will see her father sign the abdication document that will bring his 25 year reign to a close.

If Princess Alexandra’s baby is born in the reign of her father, the child will be tenth in line to the throne. However, if they arrive after her brother has taken the Grand Ducal throne then the newest royal baby in Europe will be ninth in Luxembourg’s line of succession.

Either way, they won’t have a royal title. Alexandra’s children don’t automatically become HRH – unlike the children of her brothers.
